WHAT IS THAT

Biodiversity Friend® Beekeeping is a voluntary standard owned by the World Biodiversity Association , aimed at guaranteeing the protection of biodiversity in beekeeping.

The certification aims to:
  • define an improvement path that guides and enhances beekeeping towards ever greater protection of the honey bee
  • recognize the role of beekeepers as custodians of biodiversity

CSQA has been chosen by WBA for Biodiversity Friend Beekeeping certification .

KEY POINTS

The assessment of the sustainability performance of the beekeeping company takes place through a check list BIODIVERSITY_friend_beekeeping_BF.png documentary and direct verification in the apiary, according to the basic principles of the Charter of San Michele all'Adige.

Based on its particular needs and characteristics, the company has the possibility to choose between two paths to reach the levels of environmental, social and economic sustainability in line with the expectations of producers and consumers.

The founding principles are:
  • respect for the biology of the bee and its genetics
  • use of sustainable and low environmental impact beekeeping practices
  • enhancement of the work of the beekeeper

To adhere to the protocol, the company signs the «Biodiversity Friend® Beekeeping Declaration» with which it undertakes to pursue 10 actions that the WBA considers the «Decalogue of sustainability» in beekeeping.

* Points 3 and 4 of the decalogue are evaluated only if the beekeeping company is also an agricultural company
