On the initiative of CSQA, the Control Body designated by the Ministry for Modica PGI Chocolate , the new Control Plan , approved last May 9th by the Department of the Central Inspectorate for the Protection of Quality and Fraud Repression of Agri-food Products of MASAF, was illustrated to all companies producing Modica PGI chocolate.

The works were opened by the Director of the Consortium Nino Scivoletto , in the presence of the President Salvatore Peluso , who welcomed the CSQA managers and the companies present, in particular those currently not associated. The Director communicated to those present that the Masaf with its own decree has recognized the Consortium of Modica IGP Chocolate, conferring on it important functions in terms of protection and promotion. In particular, the companies were informed that the competences in terms of approval of the packaging, as well as the authorization for the use of the denomination in the transformed products belongs to the Consortium to which all the companies must turn.

The Control Plan was illustrated by Nicola Conterno and Raimondo Catzeddu, respectively responsible for the PDO and PGI productions, while Catzeddu is responsible for the PGI Modica Chocolate Product.

A plan that is developed in 15 articles, starting from the discipline of the methods of access to the Modica Chocolate production system, up to the discipline of the Digital Passport now mandatory for all production companies, whether they are members of the Consortium or not, present in number of 14 out of 21 at the study day.

The novelties of the DOPS 4.0 Portal were illustrated, for which all companies will be given the relevant access credentials, an innovative tool for uploading all the production data of Modica PGI chocolate for each company.

CSQA managers provided all the necessary clarifications upon request, assuring companies that in this first phase they will be able to avail themselves of technical assistance both by telephone and by email.
