The Central Inspectorate for Quality Protection and Fraud Prevention (ICQRF) of agri-food products of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (Masaf) has entrusted, with Ministerial Decree, the authorization to CSQA to carry out controls for the Protected Designation of Origin Aglio di Voghiera for the next three years.
Voghiera Garlic DOP is one of the certified excellences of Emilia - Romagna , a region that ranks among the top in Italy for the economic impact of DOP and IGP production. The regional agri-food sector boasts 74 certified products, a total economic value of nearly €4 billion and over 15,000 operators involved in the supply chains, with regional Geographical Indications accounting for 26% of the value of the regional agri-food sector (Data from the ISMEA-Qualivita 2025 Report).
Registered as a DOP in 2010, Aglio di Voghiera DOP is rooted in the agricultural tradition of the Ferrara area, where unique soil and climate conditions and consolidated production know-how contribute to defining its distinctive characteristics. Today, the supply chain comprises 17 operators , with a certified production of 430 tons and a production value of €1 million , confirming the role of Aglio di Voghiera DOP as an identifying and quality product of the regional agri-food system.
Leading the supply chain is the Voghiera Garlic Producers Consortium , which has been protecting and promoting this excellence since 2000. Among its main responsibilities is the promotion and enhancement of Voghiera Garlic and the protection of the Consortium's members, which currently has 24 ordinary members and one special member. Current projects, in addition to participation in various local fairs and festivals, include organizing the historic Garlic Fair, which will be held from August 7 to 9, 2026.
CSQA's entry as the inspection body for the DOP Aglio di Voghiera (Voghiera Garlic) is part of the Group's broader growth and consolidation strategy, strengthened by the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Check Fruit , the former product inspection body and a leading player in the fruit and vegetable sector. This strategic move aims to create a center of excellence in agri-food certification, leveraging specialized skills and ensuring increasingly qualified service to supply chains.
