Agricultural carbon credits: the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region's Call for Proposals (Call J) is now open. The Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia opens its doors to the agricultural carbon credit market.

With Call J – Carbon Credits , approved by resolution of the Regional Council of 31 July 2026, no. 1159, as part of the 2026 Agricultural Value Programme, non-repayable grants are available for companies that wish to certify the carbon stored thanks to sustainable agricultural practices.

Who is it for?

The following can apply:
  • agricultural SMEs with operational units in the region , registered in the Chamber of Commerce's business register, which have created a company file with cultivated areas to be certified;
  • temporary associations of companies or business networks comprising agricultural SMEs that meet the requirements indicated above;
  • agricultural cooperatives registered in the regional register , with operational units in Friuli Venezia Giulia, of which eligible agricultural SMEs are members.

What it finances

The call covers the costs necessary to start and complete a carbon credit certification project , in particular:
  • specialist consultancy, feasibility studies, analyses, surveys and sampling for project preparation;
  • project validation costs and verification of results by independent bodies accredited according to UNI EN ISO standards, in addition to credit certification costs;
  • monitoring, reporting and verification systems , including periodic surveys, data collection, GIS processing and remote sensing.
Expenses invoiced and incurred after January 1, 2026 are eligible.

Amounts and intensity of the contribution

  • Minimum eligible expenditure : 1,400 euros per application
  • Maximum eligible expenditure : 700 euros/hectare, up to a limit of 7,000 euros
  • Intensity of the contribution : 40% of the eligible expenditure
  • Contributions granted under the agricultural "de minimis" regime (EU Regulation 1408/2013)
  • Not cumulative with other aid, contributions or public financing for the same expenses

How and when to apply

Applications must be submitted from August 7 to October 7, 2026 , according to the one-stop procedure (chronological order of arrival), via certified email to the address competitivita@certregione.fvg.it , using the "Application form" available in the Forms section of the dedicated regional page.
Only one application per agricultural business is permitted.

Why it's convenient for businesses

The call comes at a time when the agricultural carbon credit market is experiencing strong global growth, and allows farms in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region to cover the often significant costs of transforming existing sustainable practices (soil, pasture, and forest management, etc.) into marketable carbon certificates, opening up a new potential source of income alongside traditional farming.
