The Raffadali Pistachio DOP was featured prominently in the Chamber of Deputies, during the presentation of the Report on Agri-food Heritage: Economic Fraud, the Market, and Consumer Protection, prepared by the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Illegal Activities Related to the Waste Cycle and Other Environmental and Agri-food Crimes.
During the event, held in the Sala della Regina of Palazzo Montecitorio , the Commission defined the traceability model developed for the Raffadali Pistachio DOP as "virtuous", recognizing its value as a good national practice in combating fraud and protecting consumers.
The system, created in collaboration with CSQA Certificazioni and the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato , introduces for the first time in Europe, for a nut, a “ Digital Passport ”: a QR code on the label that allows the consumer to access a certified platform and verify the authenticity, origin and supply chain of the product.
The parliamentary initiative was attended by several institutional officials and representatives from the industry. The day concluded with an institutional dinner at the Chamber of Deputies Restaurant, where Raffadali Pistachio DOP was used in a special menu, including pasta with Raffadali Pistachio DOP pesto.
"Receiving the invitation to participate in an event held at the Chamber of Deputies was thrilling and makes us proud and aware of the work we are doing," stated the President of the Raffadali Pistachio DOP Protection Consortium. "Reading a few lines about our certification model, our product, and Fastuca Fest in a parliamentary document highlights an entire region, its producers, those who have believed in us over the years, and those who will join us in the years to come."
The recognition by the Bicameral Commission positions the Raffadali Pistachio DOP as a concrete example of a certified, safe, and transparent supply chain, capable of combining the protection of Made in Italy, the valorization of the local area, and food safety.
