The Italian Fair Trade united as a megaphone of hope

Equo Garantito, Altromercato, Ponte Solidale and Altreconomia, who for years have been working to demonstrate that Fair Trade is not only an economic choice but a political and human act, a concrete commitment to justice and dignity, have decided to make their voices heard by becoming a megaphone of hope.

A call to citizens, consumers, companies, schools, institutions to gather in solidarity shops and in all the awareness points that will join to raise awareness and read together the message of hope of Sawsan Saleh from occupied Palestine: “We would like to tell you about our dreams, our successes, our role in development, justice and equality and in achieving security and peace, but above all we must tell you that we are not well.”

In a context of excruciating pain, an appeal not to turn away and avoid history repeating itself.

The Italian Fair Trade movement, after yet another cry for help, joins together in a heartfelt appeal. A call to citizens, consumers, companies, schools, institutions to gather and read together Sawsan Saleh's message of hope from occupied Palestine.

The need to unite to solicit public opinion is born from yet another story of horror and suffering that comes from the direct contact of the partner organizations of the fair and solidarity world that collects testimonies of those who experience war first-hand.

“Among these voices is AOWA (The Association of Women's Action for Training & Rehabilitation) – an organization of women who produce soaps and essential oils sold in the Fair Trade circuit – which until a few days ago sent us the diary of Zainab Al Ghonaimy , activist for women's rights and member of the Women's Coalition to Fight Violence against Women . A diary that collected the daily reality under siege, giving voice to those who resist between pain and hope. A diary interrupted by the pain for the death of the entire family of her nephew who, together with his wife, son and five daughters, were hit by a missile last Tuesday" says Stefania Guerrucci, of Ponte Solidale and on behalf of the Italian Fair Trade movement . "Zainab Al Ghonaimy has been fighting for years for justice and protection of Palestinian women, managing a shelter for victims of violence. She is also a member of the Women, Peace and Security Coalition , which works to implement United Nations Resolution 1325 , the first to officially recognize the impact of war on women and their critical role in building lasting peace.
