The livestock farming industry , which still governs much of the economy of central Sardinia (including Nuoro and Oristano), is nothing more than a worthy heir to ancient practices linked to pastoralism.

The leap from transhumance to semi-intensive livestock farming was anything but a short one. At the heart of this journey, in fact, are at least two centuries of history and evolution. Evolutions that, in turn, have allowed for the preservation of certain territorial balances, which are useful for protecting native breeds and avoiding completely intensive livestock farming practices.

Geographically and statistically, in fact, so-called "barn" farming is far less used than techniques such as free-range grazing . This applies to all sectors, from cattle to sheep and goats, including pigs, where the true secret to preserving quality remains tied to so-called extensive practices that aim to enhance even portions of land rich in flora but rarely cultivated . There is also a growing interest in ethical farming and animal welfare , which increases the quality of final products, making them much more appealing to consumers both domestically and internationally.

The final highlight certainly goes to the mountain excellence of Bonidades . This project aims to highlight the excellence and quality of artisanal products from central Sardinia by promoting supply chain cooperation, local purchasing, and nutritional education through a dense network of producers. This network of businesses in central Sardinia includes farms that raise pigs, grow grains and fruit and vegetables, and produce dairy products. Finally, there are a few excellent, high-quality goat farms. This particular type of farming is not limited to central Sardinia, although it comes from the island's inland areas, which are ranked among the best in Italy for high quality.

The future of local livestock farming is undoubtedly linked to the development of new technologies. This innovation necessarily requires modern, certified, and cutting-edge facilities. Every stage of the production process is aligned with the highest quality standards, with an ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. All facilities are CSQA-certified and guarantee not only product quality but also animal welfare. Breeding centers are the hub of production. Here, each animal is monitored throughout every stage of growth. The animals' health and well-being are carefully monitored by a team of experts, including agronomists, nutritionists, and veterinarians.
