Within this consortium of social cooperatives, women reach 91%. It is not just a numerical factor that makes the difference, but the implementation of a series of internal policies capable of guaranteeing wage equality and supporting parenthood and career advancement for women.

Città Essenziale , a consortium of social cooperatives, is the first social enterprise in Basilicata to obtain gender equality certification. Women within the Essential City reach the quota of 91%.

It's not just the numbers that make the difference, but the implementation over time by the company of a series of internal policies capable of guaranteeing gender equality and wage equality, supporting parenting and women's career advancement.

Culture and strategy, governance, HR processes, opportunities for growth and inclusion of women in the company, remuneration equity by gender, protection of parenthood and work-life balance: these are the items on which the social enterprise was evaluated, which has demonstrated that it has achieved important results for the respect of gender equality.

The release of the PdR 125 certification by CSQA to La Città Essenziale was an opportunity to highlight and recognize the good practices implemented over the years by the governance of the Consortium.

The objective of the Essential City is to involve all the cooperatives of the Consortium, creating a sort of domino effect to spread an inclusive culture that can translate into an investment for each of them.
«The Pdr125 Certification is a tool that can help generate a cultural change towards widespread gender equality», underlines Giuseppe Bruno , president of the Consortium. «To achieve this change, we must not make the mistake of using the combination of gender equality to indicate the greater numerical presence of women in the workplace and in governance . It is necessary to adopt an attitude and a process that raises the value of women and of those who work in a company, so that skills can emerge and affirm a meritocratic value .
Every woman and every worker must be able to have equal opportunities for skills and not for numerical determination, this is the basis of a real equal path. This process, naturally generated by the cooperation, will have to be taken on with greater conviction also by the public body, which will have to enhance it in the awarding procedures, and the entire business community which will have to adopt it as a modus operandi».
«The Uni/Pdr125:2022 certification is a great opportunity and a good starting point for what can be a real revolution for the world of work and especially for women», is the opinion of Angela Canonico , quality manager of the Consortium. "It is very innovative because it stimulates employers to adopt a cultural vision that guarantees gender equality but above all it pushes them to make it explicit in effective practices within the company".
