Gragnano Pasta PGI is the result of a centuries-old interplay between a unique microclimate, artisanal and industrial ingenuity, and technical rigor. The first pasta to earn PGI recognition in Europe, it is now a cornerstone of the Italian PDO economy . This guide analyzes the evolution of a supply chain that, rooted in the Valle dei Mulini, has transformed a local excellence into a global export leader, maintaining the quality standards established in a rigorous production protocol.
According to the ISMEA-Qualivita report on the PDO Economy, production of Pasta di Gragnano PGI exceeded 303,000 tons in 2024, a double-digit increase (+11%) compared to the previous year. The supply chain currently includes 23 pasta factories, 15 of which are members of the Protection Consortium, employing approximately 400 people directly and having a significant impact on the local economy.
