Food safety and training: the pillars of Made in Italy excellence.

Behind every product bearing the Made in Italy label is an entire supply chain of 4 million workers trained to the highest international standards, where a culture of quality is intertwined with cutting-edge safety protocols.

Continuous training for industry professionals, from mandatory HACCP courses to specializations in haute cuisine schools, represents the strategic investment that allows Italy to maintain its global leadership in quality certifications and the reputation of its products.

Italy confirms its position as the absolute leader in Europe with 856 certified products, including DOP, IGP, and TSG . This unique heritage includes 328 agri-food products and 530 wines with protected designations of origin, generating an economic value of €20.19 billion . This represents not only qualitative excellence but also a system of guarantees for consumers based on rigorous production specifications and systematic controls.

This numerical leadership translates into a tangible competitive advantage in international markets, where Italian quality certifications, from Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, worth €1.5 billion in exports, to Prosciutto di Parma PGI, are recognized as synonymous with authenticity, traceability, and food safety. This is supported by a control system involving certified bodies such as CSQA, Bioagricert, and CCPB, which carry out ongoing checks along the entire production chain.

The strength of the Italian system lies in the synergy between tradition and innovation , where ancient regulations that protect centuries-old production methods are integrated with modern traceability and control technologies , creating a unique ecosystem in which each certified product brings with it not only the flavour of the territory but also the guarantee of a production process monitored at every stage, from raw materials to the finished product, with over 45,550 samples analysed annually to ensure compliance with standards.
