The National Quality System for Integrated Production consolidates its central role in the ecological transition of the Italian agri-food sector. In addition to ensuring low-chemical impact agronomic practices, this public scheme now offers essential legal protection to companies. In the European and national regulatory framework defined by Legislative Decree 30/2026 against greenwashing, membership in the SQNPI provides objective and certified proof of the veracity of environmental claims, differentiating products on the market while fully respecting consumer transparency.

The numbers for 2025: towards one million hectares

The system has seen significant growth in 2025: according to data from certification bodies, approximately 45,000 SQNPI-certified operators are operating, covering approximately 1 million hectares of land. SQNPI thus positions itself as the leading sustainability certification system for plant production in Italy. In the wine sector alone, 52% of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG area is SQNPI-certified, demonstrating the system's penetration into high-quality supply chains as well.

Accredited control bodies and ministry supervision

MASAF acts as the competent authority for the recognition of regional specifications, maintenance of the official list of inspection bodies, and management of the National Information System (SIPI). The Technical Scientific Body (OTS) , established pursuant to Article 2, paragraph 6 of Law No. 4/2011 and Ministerial Decree 4890 of May 8, 2014, is responsible for approving the National Guidelines, the procedures for joining and managing the system, and the regional inspection plans.

The system provides a double level of control :

Currently operating inspection bodies include: RINA, CSQA, CCPB, ICEA, Bioagricert, Valoritalia, Ecogruppo Italia, Suolo e Salute, and QCertificazioni—all accredited to ISO 17065:2012 and registered in the official MASAF list.
