The project “ Certification of ecosystem biodiversity in the Aosta Valley : an innovative proposal for environmental sustainability” is getting underway in the spectacular setting of the natural amphitheatre at the Astronomical Observatory of the Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley in St Barthélemy. This initiative is dedicated to the protection and valorisation of biodiversity and is promoted by the Institut Agricole Régional , Cave Mont Blanc de Morgex et la Salle , Coldiretti Valle d'Aosta , the Municipality of Nus , CSQA and the Mont Avic Natural Park . The aim is to valorise the environmental and productive peculiarities of the Aosta Valley Region through the application of a certification scheme for the environmental sustainability of agricultural activities in the Aosta Valley area.

The project "Certification of ecosystem biodiversity in the Aosta Valley: an innovative proposal for environmental sustainability" is entirely funded by the SRGO8 line - Support for pilot and testing actions for innovation of the Regional Complement for Rural Development 2023/27 Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley.

"I consider the synergy between the entities involved in the project to be a positive development, as they have chosen to collaborate to implement European organic directives," says Marco Carrel, Councilor for Agriculture and Natural Resources. "The 2023/2027 Rural Development program has chosen to emphasize the authenticity and genuineness of the Aosta Valley agricultural landscape through organic certification. In this context, the Department is working and coordinating with the paying agencies to ensure that these measures are truly up-to-date and, above all, recognized by our farmers and breeders."

The project not only aims to improve the quality of local agri-food products, but also strengthens the region's territorial identity by promoting environmental awareness among producers and consumers. The innovative certification process will provide Aosta Valley agri-food products with a valuable asset both locally, nationally, and internationally, a shining example of how tradition, combined with sustainability and innovation, enables growth with an integrated and sustainable approach.
