The External Activities and Self-Monitoring service is carried out by a team of internal Consortium staff , with the support of the independent certification body Csqa Certificazioni srl. The integration of these various professional skills ensures systematic monitoring of product quality and the correct use of the Grana Padano PDO designation .
The self-monitoring system, adopted voluntarily and approved by the Consortium Members' Assembly, aims to protect consumers and ensure the maintenance of high quality standards consistent with the production specifications. Inspections and inspections are carried out at all stages of the production process, from raw materials to the final branding of the cheeses. Activities include quality control of the milk used, monitoring of processing conditions, and inspections during the ripening process, as well as during the threshing and branding operations.
The Inspection Plan, jointly defined annually by CSQA and the Office of External Activities and Self-Inspection , establishes inspection methods, frequencies, and parameters. In 2025, inspection activities exceeded the levels set by the Plan, with overall positive results and particularly high levels of compliance, confirming the solidity of the production system and the effectiveness of the self-inspection model.
