
The project, entitled “ Certification of ecosystem biodiversity in the Aosta Valley : an innovative proposal for environmental sustainability,” was launched on Wednesday in Saint Barthélemy, in the setting of the natural amphitheater at the Astronomical Observatory of the Region.
This is an initiative dedicated to the protection and enhancement of biodiversity, promoted by Institut Agricole Régional, Cave Mont Blanc de Morgex et la Salle, Coldiretti Valle d'Aosta, Comune di Nus, CSQA and the Mont Avic Natural Park. The aim is to enhance the environmental and productive peculiarities of the region through the application of a certification scheme for the environmental sustainability of agricultural activities in the Aosta Valley.
Among the main actions of the project, five stand out. Adapt the Biodiversity Friend certification scheme based on the valorization of biodiversity to the specificity of the Aosta Valley; train certifying technicians and agricultural operators to ensure the effective application of the certification system; promote the involvement of local stakeholders, including agricultural companies, local authorities and consumers; strengthen environmental sustainability in the agri-food chains and in the tourism activities of the Region; and, finally, valorize local agricultural products through a recognized quality brand , which highlights the link with the territory and the protection of biodiversity.
