The Piante-forestali nursery in Desenzano del Garda, managed by Società Agricola Forbici , has obtained the first Italian certification according to the Native Plant/Biodiversity standard issued to a private nursery. The recognition, issued by CSQA, attests to the compliance of the cultivation activities with the requirements established by the brand for the traceability of native species.
The brand was created by Veneto Agricoltura to guarantee the local origin of plants and seeds used in renaturalization, landscaping, and environmental restoration projects. For nursery companies considering joining, this first concrete example in the private sector provides an operational benchmark for required documentation, controls, and supply chain organization.
The standard applies to nursery production of native species, both woody and herbaceous, and covers the entire supply chain: from the collection of propagating material to cultivation, conservation, and sale. The mark can be applied for by companies and organizations involved in one or more of these phases, not just by nurseries.
The verification process focused on compliance with the Technical Specifications and the Trademark Regulations, with checks on cultivation methods, batch identification, and documentation on the origin of the plant material. CSQA also assessed the company's traceability system, a key element for those purchasing certified plants with a guarantee of origin.
