A further step towards the sustainability of the feed supply chain

QS-Soyplus, CSQA's DTP112 "Sustainable Cereals and Oilseeds" recognized by QS in Annex 4.3
QS-Soyplus, CSQA's DTP112 "Sustainable Cereals and Oilseeds" recognized by QS in Annex 4.3 An important new milestone in the international recognition process of the CSQA DTP112 standard "Sustainable cereals and oilseeds" : the scheme has in fact been included among the standards recognised by QS in Annex 4.3 "Recognised system for the QS Soyplus guideline for feed trade and production".

The QS-Soyplus module

QS-Soyplus is the voluntary module of the QS certification system dedicated to sustainable soy , developed to ensure responsible sourcing of soy for the animal feed sector.

QS-Soyplus certified soy must come from production methods that exclude deforestation, both legal and illegal, and that respect specific environmental, social and economic criteria.

The certification applies to operators in the feed supply chain who are already QS certified.

Three annexes are provided to support the QS-Soyplus guideline:
  • Annex 4.1 – defines the feed materials included in the scope of the Soyplus module;
  • Annex 4.2 – lists the recognized standards for primary soy production. DTP112 was already present in this annex: operators purchasing soy certified according to one of the schemes listed here can automatically consider it QS-Soyplus compliant, without the need for separate upstream QS-Soyplus certification;
  • Annex 4.3 – reports the recognized standards for the trading, processing and production of feed containing soy , allowing QS operators to purchase or market products certified according to recognized schemes without having to obtain a further dedicated QS-Soyplus certification.

What's new: DTP112 also in Annex 4.3

With this new recognition, DTP112 also becomes part of Annex 4.3 , thus covering the entire chain of custody of soy : from primary production (already recognized in Annex 4.2) up to the stages of trade, processing and feed production.

This means that DTP112 certified customers operating in the trading, processing and production of feed containing soy can now request recognition of their certificate also within the QS-Soyplus system, without having to undergo an additional and separate certification process.

An added value for certified operators

The dual recognition of DTP112, now present in both Annex 4.2 and Annex 4.3, strengthens the position of the CSQA standard as a reliable tool for certifying the sustainability of soy throughout the entire supply chain, offering certified operators easier and more direct access to the QS-Soyplus market and further enhancing the investments already made in sustainability and traceability.
