The winning classes of the creative contest “The Tales of Bitti and Casi – Discovering the Cheeses of Valtellina” were announced on June 3 , the educational project promoted by the Consortium for the Protection of DOP Valtellina Casera and Bitto Cheeses (CTCB) in collaboration with Neways and dedicated to primary schools in the province of Sondrio for the 2025-2026 school year.
The jury won over the second and fourth grades of the Rita Levi Montalcini Primary School in Montagna in Valtellina , awarded for their project "Bitti and Casi: Discovering Their Origins," and the first grade of the San Cassiano Primary School in Prata Camportaccio , which received recognition for its project "From Cow to Cheese." The winning classes were awarded a €250 voucher to purchase technological and educational materials.

The Consortium for the Protection of Valtellina Casera and Bitto DOP Cheeses has been operating in the province of Sondrio since 1995 with the aim of defending, protecting, and promoting the two cheeses that are symbols of the Valtellina dairy tradition. The Consortium currently brings together approximately 160 members , including breeders, producers, maturers, livestock farms, local dairies, and cheese factories. Since 1996 , both Valtellina Casera and Bitto have been awarded DOP status, while since 1998, the certifying body for consumer protection has been CSQA of Thiene .
