Legislative Decree no. 30 of 2026, which transposed EU Directive 824 of 2024 against greenwashing, will come into force on 27 September 2026 and the Grana Padano Protection Consortium is preparing to certify its environmental claims .
"To protect the authenticity of our environmental claims, we have adopted several measures to scientifically map their impact," explained Renato Zaghini, president of the Consortium , "and to ensure that the information provided across various media is consistent and coordinated."
For years, the Grana Padano system has been implementing Life Ttgg , a project of European relevance that develops specific software, validated by the CSQA certification body , capable of quantifying the environmental footprint. "The goal is to promote energy efficiency and provide measurable data," Zaghini emphasized, "that helps companies avoid vague or misleading declarations."
From this perspective, great attention is paid to training . "The Consortium regularly organizes and promotes meetings aimed at producers," the president noted, "to promote effective communication and combat greenwashing in the dairy sector." These procedures are applied with great success in various companies.
"I would like to highlight the recognition awarded to Caseificio Torre Pallavicina, the first in the Grana Padano PDO supply chain to obtain authorization to use the Made Green in Italy logo , the national scheme promoted by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security to promote the environmental performance of Italian products," the president emphasized. "This achievement represents a significant milestone for one of the most representative agri-food supply chains of Made in Italy and is the culmination of a structured and shared process, made possible thanks to the collaboration between the production system and a qualified team of research institutions."
