Remote auditing is widely discussed. IFS believes that on-site audits cannot be replaced when good production practices and hygiene are central audit criteria.On-site assessment remains essential to ensure safety, legality, and compliance with customer specifications.
To provide flexibility without compromising reliability, the IFS Split Audit divides the audit into two distinct parts :
- an on-site assessment
- a remote review.
The exception is IFS Broker , where a fully remote audit protocol applies.
How the IFS Split Audit works
On-site assessment : At least 50% of the total audit duration is conducted physically on-site . This phase includes reviewing product samples, observing operational processes, inspecting facilities, conducting staff interviews, and conducting traceability tests.Remote Review : Within two weeks , documentation is reviewed, findings are cross-referenced, and further interviews are conducted to complete the audit.
The updated factsheet provides a clear overview of the structure, requirements and preparation steps for conducting an IFS Split Audit.
