ISO 9001 for the General Office of the CRA of the Defence General Staff In the presence of the Chief of Defence Staff General Luciano Portolano , the ceremony for the delivery of the renewal of the UNI EN ISO 9001 to the General Office of the Administrative Responsibility Centre (UGCRA) of the SMD took place.

This recognition confirms the full maturity of its Quality Management System, applied to the procurement processes supporting the joint technical-operational area and the Administrative Intendancy Centers deployed in operational theaters.

The path that led to this result stems from the vision of Lt. Gen. Salvatore Vergari, Head of the CRA General Office , who since the Office's establishment in 2022, has promoted the adoption of a Quality Management System not as a formal requirement, but as a strategic tool for process governance, organizational growth, and consolidating the reliability of administrative action.

The certification was issued following an audit conducted by CSQA , a body accredited by Accredia, the only national authority that guarantees the technical competence and independence of certification bodies.
This ensures the credibility of the recognition obtained and full compliance with the highest international standards.

Although established just over three years ago, the CRA General Office has reached a level of organizational maturity that has enabled it to integrate the Quality Management System into its decision-making and operational processes, making it an effective tool for planning, control, risk management, and decision support.

The recertification confirms that the system is not a formal system, but a stable operating model, oriented towards preventing critical issues, continuity, and continuous improvement.

The CRA project represents a pioneering initiative within the Ministry of Defence.
It was, in fact, the first Administrative Responsibility Center to adopt such a comprehensive quality model, quickly becoming a virtuous benchmark and an experience replicated by other General Offices.

The Quality Policy adopted introduced an approach that goes beyond mere regulatory compliance, interpreting quality as the ability to manage complexity, create public value, and organizational resilience, based on data, performance analysis, and the exploitation of internal knowledge.

The UNI EN ISO 9001 recertification confirms that organizational innovation, strategic vision, and expertise can translate into tangible and lasting results, strengthening the Defense system's ability to operate effectively even in complex and rapidly evolving contexts.
