Accessible tourism and sport: an update for UNI/PdR 131

Accessible tourism and sport: an update for UNI/PdR 131 How central the concept of accessibility is for a society that wants to be authentically and fully inclusive is demonstrated by the attention that this topic also receives in the world of technical standards.

After the reference practice UNI/PdR 131 (" Accessibility of services offered by accommodation facilities, spas and bathing establishments, and sports facilities - Requirements and check-list") saw the light last March thanks to the work of experts from the Ministry of Tourism, Accredia, the UNI system as well as numerous Conformity Assessment Bodies, the shared need emerged on the part of the Minister of Tourism and the Minister for Disabilities to collect the request of the associations representing people with disabilities, FISH and FAND , to better detail the accessibility requirements reported in the document .

For this purpose, a technical table was specifically set up which in recent months has worked on updating the UNI/PdR , with the involvement of representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, the Minister for Disabilities and associations representing people with disabilities.

The reference practice is now presented in a more complete and updated version and is subject to a new public consultation from 19 September to 3 October.

The document undoubtedly represents a useful tool for operators of accommodation facilities, spas, bathing establishments and sports facilities as it provides the minimum requirements for the accessibility of the services offered: requirements that can be verified, from a certification, also through specific control checklists.

UNI/PdR 131 therefore deals with the fundamental requirements for the design of accessible services and provides reference parameters in the field of transport, urban and rural tourist spaces, recreational and cultural activities, accommodation facilities, sports facilities and much more. other.

Particular attention is given - also through specific explanatory appendices - to the topic of conformity assessment and related audits.
